Rigi for XTM (XTM Git Connector)

XTM provides a Git connector, simplifying the process for project managers to effortlessly access and translate the most up-to-date source files within the XTM platform.

This article describes how to create a project in XTM and use Rigi to provide contextual previews for the translators.

Steps

1. Upload the source files to the Git repository.
   
   
   

   
   In this example, there is one resource file to be translated (en.json) and the Rigi solution/project descriptor files.
   
   

   

   Initial creation of the descriptor files
   

   Create your initial project in the Rigi workspace.
   You can then download the Rigi solution/project files.
   
   
   

   
   
2. Configure a bucket in the Git connector in XTM.
   
   To set up the Git connector in XTM and connect it to the repository created in the previous step, please refer to the XTM documentation for comprehensive instructions and specifics.
   
   
3. Open the XTM Connect tab.
   
   
   
   
4. Click Hamburger > Actions > Create a project.
   
   
   
   Optional: go to Tasks to see the task and its status:
   
   
   
   The Git repository now contains the resource file with Rigi tokens:
   
   
   
   
5. Install the file with Rigi tokens in the staging application as a separate language pack.
   
   For example, the Rigi demonstration application has a language selector where you can select the Rigi language (RG):
   
   
   
   
   
6. Capture HTML Previews.
   
   
7. Open XTM > Projects.
   
   
8. Click Project > Hamburger > Manage Workflow.
   
   Ensure that the linguists are assigned.
   
   
   
   Start the workflow.
   
   
9. Click Project > Hamburger > Open XTM Workbench > Language.
   
   
   
   
10. Unselect read-only to open the workbench in edit-mode.
    
    
    Once the Workbench opens - the Rigi Viewer is automatically opened in another tab (make sure that popups are not blocked).
    
    
11. Show the XTM editor and the Rigi Viewer side-by-side.
    
    
    
    You can now translate in-context.
    
    
12. Click Finish when the translations are done.
    
    
    
    
    
    XTM will commit the target resource files. They will appear in the Git repo shortly after.
    
    
    
    Open the generated file to see the translations:

13. Open Rigi > Texts > String list to see the translations:
    
    
    
    

Language test

As a next step, you could conduct a Language test, where language testers review translations in-context and provide feedback.

After this step, the translators can correct the review comments in the current project.
